Accelerating Biomanufacturing Innovation in Europe
The BRIDGE PROJECT
Biomanufacturing Regions for Integrated Development and Growth in the Ecosystems
Il progetto BRIDGE
The BRIDGE project aims to bolster the regional biomanufacturing ecosystems in two less developed European regions, Silesia (PL) and Campania (IT), by fostering collaboration and knowledge transfer from a more developed region, Catalonia (ES). The project seeks to create an interconnected network of biomanufacturing nodes and strengthen their cooperation through a mix of tailored activities.
Key objectives include mapping the regional ecosystems in Silesia and Campania, benchmarking them against Catalonia, and facilitating interregional knowledge transfer through the establishment of Interregional Biomanufacturing Interest Groups (IBIGs) to pinpoint value chain gaps and opportunities.
BRIDGE also focuses on capacity building, specifically by developing and piloting a customized training package to address identified skills gaps within the medical biotech industry. Furthermore, it intends to tackle industrial obstacles by matching challenges posed by large enterprises (represented by partner Reig Jofre) with solutions from startups, SMEs, and research institutions, aiming to establish new interregional business partnerships.
The project employs an entrepreneurial discovery process to identify a robust pipeline of interregional investment opportunities. It will conclude by validating this potential through the creation of Smart Specialisation Strategy (S3)-based roadmaps for the three regions, and by selecting and supporting three high-potential investment projects in preparing proposals for the I3 Instrument or other relevant EU funding schemes. Access to the advanced innovation support and network provided by EIT Health InnoStars acts as a crucial enabler throughout the project.
